WRVU Friends & Family is an independent nonprofit organization not affiliated with Vanderbilt University or the VSC.

WRVU Friends and Family is a nonprofit organization created by WRVU DJs of the past and present who are committed to supporting Vanderbilt student radio broadcasting at WRVU 91.1 FM.  Membership in the organization is open to all supporters of Vanderbilt Student Radio including - - but not limited to - - WRVU listeners; WRVU DJs; Vanderbilt University students, faculty and staff; members of the Nashville community; and supporters of college radio everywhere.   More information about membership opportunities will be available soon. This independent organization is in no way affiliated with Vanderbilt University or Vanderbilt Student Communications (VSC).  The WRVU Friends and Family is dedicated to keeping WRVU 91.1 FM On the Air.                   MISSION WRVU Friends and Family promotes opportunities for educational experiences in on-air radio broadcasting for Vanderbilt University students and the Vanderbilt University Community.  The organization also provides professional and technical support as well as media broadcasting career mentorship to the students of WRVU 91.1 FM. GOALS * To sustain and enhance opportunities in on-air radio broadcasting for Vanderbilt University students and the Vanderbilt University community. * To support quality radio programming for Vanderbilt University and its surrounding region. * To appreciate and protect the legacy of radio broadcasting, engineering, and pioneering at Vanderbilt University. * To preserve for the future WRVU’s educational mission of providing a laboratory where students can interact with an audience through the medium of broadcast radio and manage the day-to-day operations of an FCC licensed radio station. * To provide technical and professional support to the students of WRVU.  To ensure the highest quality stewardship of the 91.1 FM frequency. DONATIONS The WRVU Friends & Family organization has received nonprofit designation from the State of Tennessee. The organization is currently in the process of applying to the IRS for Federal 501(c)3 status.   Donations made now will be retroactively tax-deductible once 501(c)3 status is achieved. 100% of the funds collected by the WRVU Friends and Family will be used in the campaign to keep 91.1 FM live. Once this crisis has come to a peaceful end and WRVU 91.1 FM is both out of danger and protected for the future, 100% of the funds collected by the WRVU Friends & Family will be donated to the students of WRVU in the form of equipment, programming support, and radio broadcasting scholarships.
